Dangit, I lost my flashdrive

V am currently procrastinating. I don't have class until Wednesday for finals, so I believe I have plenty of time to prepare for finals. Haha. I am excited about FFXIII! I don't have a PS3 and probably never will, but I am excited nonetheless. It's been 3 years! And the storyline seems interesting!
Anyways, school is alright, although Bio sucks a lot. I have also been consuming instant noodles on a daily basis lately, which I know is a terrible thing to do to my body. So, no more instant noodles for me! Wah :(
We made sushi yesterday :D I ate at Kona Grill today-shrimp tempura rolls + miso soup = yummy.
I haven't done much art lately, but as of right now I am trying to draw Lightning from FFXIII. I watched Paris, I Love You yesterday. It's a very pleasant collection of random stories that take place in Paris. However, like many critics pointed out, it is extremely "uneven". But I like how it's sort of "different", and now I want to watch New York, I Love You.
I finally watched The Notebook sometime ago. My roommates and I were bawling, haha. x)

Unused Lisa Miller Vol 4

Unused Lisa Miller Vol 4, originally uploaded by radiomaru.

Unused illustration of Lisa Miller from Scott Pilgrim Volume 4 (circa December 2006 arrrrggghh). It was an early cover mockup, but I ended up not liking it enough for the cover.

Reviews!

Obviously, I'm a bit behind in regards to posting... anything. We could spend all day discussing where I failed, and where you failed. The best I can say is that I accept your apologies and promise that I will forgive you again in the future, when I once again stop posting with regularity.

First, a blast from the recent past. Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade continues to garner positive reviews.

Notes On the Art Of Writing

"I really enjoyed the storyline and recommend it."

Then we have reviews of our second issue of Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Chris's Invincible Super Blog

"The Diamond order code you want is AUG09 0192."

The Arrowcave

"Thanks for all the GA love, guys!"

Every Day Is Like Wednesday

"That is a very good plot for a comic book right there."

But Before I Kill You

"GOOD COMIC AHOY."

BW Media Spotlight

"[...]someone at Warner Animation must greenlight this comic as an actual episode!"

Comixtreme

"Walker and Jones have a gift for all-ages superheroes, and it really shows here. Rating: 4.5/5"

CBR/Robot 6

"I just loved the sheer infectious nature of the story."

The Pull List Podcast

"I gave this four stars. A very strong four stars."

Gaijinside

"It’s as fun as you’d expect."

And finally, a few reviews for issue 2 of The Incredibles.

Comixtreme

"This isn’t just one of the best of the
Boom! Kids books, it’s one of the better superhero comics being published today."

BW Media Spotlight

"I constantly have to fight to find anything wrong with this comic."

CBR/Robot 6

"I love the book's universal sense of humor"

Not a review, but there's some nice discussion over the issue at Scans Daily.

And that's all I can find right now. October and November have been a bit crazy, and there appears to be no end in sight for the madness of my schedule. Hopefully, I can clean up my act a bit and get back to doing some regular posting.

Giving or Getting a Scott Pilgrim Poster

The posters are now on sale at Page 45 in the city of Nottingham, UK, for £4.99 each.

They are also still available on the Oni Press web store (which I believe only ships to the USA).

I believe the Beguiling (in Toronto) has/had some of the posters, and they should still be selling the t-shirts (which they ship overseas!).

I can't send you a poster if you live elsewhere in the world. Sorry! I don't have any posters.

Andy Ristaino Art at Cartoon Art Museum!

Andy Ristaino's art will be on display at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco from December 19 until March 14! It's sure to be great because Andy's intricate work is even more amazing in the originals as it is on the printed page. It's great that the Cartoon Art Museum is recognizing his amazing talent.

However, as you may know, Andy's graphic novel Escape from Dullsville, which collects Life of a Fetus, has been put on hold because of low pre-orders. It was due out in December, but we need better order numbers before we can print. So we're asking you to place a pre-order at Amazon -- it's 33% off right now and you won't be charged until the book ships.

Thanks for any support you can give! It's always a tough decision to cancel or postpone a book, and we'd much rather have Andy's book see the light of day! It's 288 whoppin' pages long, and like nothing you've ever seen before.

Here's the Cartoon Art Museum press release:

Small Press Spotlight on Andy Ristaino
Cartoon Art Museum Exhibition: December 19, 2009 – March 14, 2010

Beginning on December 19th, 2009, the Cartoon Art Museum's ongoing Small Press Spotlight will feature the art of Andy Ristaino.

Andy Ristaino is a cartoonist and animator currently residing in the San Francisco. Originally from Franklin, Massachusetts, he has been drawing comics ever since he could. His first published work, a comic strip based on Greek myths entitled Myth Conceptions, appeared in The Pompeiiana Newsletter when he was in high school between 1992 and 1994. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design majoring in illustration/animation, during which time he self published two issues of his martial arts comedy zine Nightblade the Nearsighted Ninja, and drew a back up story featuring the character Dangerman, in Oz Squad from Patchwork Press.

Ristaino’s first solo book Life of a Fetus, a story about a bored baby who decides to jump out of the womb early and go on a road trip, was published by SLG comics in 1999 and ran for seven issues. This was soon followed by the spin off series The Babysitter, A send-up of Japanese pop culture. All three issue of The Babysitter have recently been collected by SLG comics. Ristaino’s work tends to focus on themes of the strangeness of life and the fragility of the human psyche, claustrophobia, and the odd space between understanding and incoherence. He looks at storytelling as something liquid.

His work has appeared in numerous comic anthologies such as Meathaus S.O.S., Spectrum 16, Tales of Hot Rod Horror, Spark Generators 2, Pet Noir, Go for the Gold, and the soon to be published Popgun vol. 4 from Image comics. His children’s comic the Uncredibly Confabulated Tales of Lucinda Ziggles was a regular fixture in the now defunct Nickelodeon Magazine.

Ristaino anticipates the publishing of his next SLG graphic novel Escape from Dullsville, a 288 page collection of Life of a Fetus with over 80 pages of unpublished material, sometime in 2010.

About the Small Press Spotlight:

San Francisco has been a hotbed of innovative, groundbreaking comic art since the late 1800s with the advent of the modern comic strip. In the1960s, the Bay Area gained further notoriety when the underground comix movement launched from San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district. Today, some of the biggest names in alternative and small-press comics hail from the Bay Area, and the Cartoon Art Museum's Small Press Spotlight focuses on the works of these talented individuals.

The Small Press Spotlight is funded in part by The Zellerbach Family Foundation and The Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation.

E-BAIT: Round Two

Wow, has it really been EIGHT MONTHS since my last eBay auction? Doesn't seem possible... You, my friends, have been woefully under-served! Sorry about that.

BUT ANY-WHO. I have FOUR new pages from Serenity Rose Volume 2: Goodbye, Crestfallen uploaded to the eBayosphere right now, just in time for our current holiday season of gift-giving obligations. This will be the last auction before the book release next month... I figured you die-hard secret internet clubhouse folks deserved one more chance to grab a page or two before the larger comic book world is reminded of my existence in December.

HERE ARE THE THINGS (clicks and such for the listing):

BIdding ends this Monday, November 30th.

Thank you in advance for the biddery! I'm not quite sure when the next set will go up for auction, but I suspect it won't take another EIGHT MONTHS. And, of course, let me know if there's a page you're particularly interested in... I'll try to include it in the next batch.
